People Powered Places Youth Advisory Board
People Powered Places is Newham Council’s flagship participatory budgeting programme. The initiative has been running since 2018, funding over 300 local projects. In 2023 the Royal Docks Team joined forces with Newham to amplify funding opportunities for grass roots initiatives in the Royal Docks.
For the first time, each neighbourhood will have £50,000 available for youth-led projects – a total of £400,000 across Newham.
Youth Advisory Board
Newham is looking for 15 young people, aged 13 to 25 who live, work or study in Newham to get involved, share ideas and improve the programme for two years, starting in June 2025 and finishing in May 2027.
The Youth Advisory Board will ensure People Powered Places is a youth-friendly programme with children and young people feeling empowered to make decisions about where they live.
Youth Board members will have the opportunity to:
- Make important decisions to shape the programme
- Ensure the programme is open and engaging for children and young people
- Gain skills to plan and deliver at least one event and one online workshop
- Meet other young people from across the borough who are passionate about Newham
