Hackney Flea coming to the Royal Docks
Vintage events company, Hackney Flea, has announced their most ambitious venture yet - the Docklands Flea launching this June at Silverworks Island in the heart of the Royal Docks.
This brand-new spring event will bring together over 200 local and national flea traders, creating a treasure island of vintage, antiques, and second-hand finds.
Sprawling across Silverworks Island, this giant flea market is the perfect destination for a thrifty Sunday scavenge by the waterfront. Their community of flea traders are constantly sourcing yesteryear’s treasures from the length and breadth of the UK and every corner of Europe, making their flea the ideal location to refresh your living space with something old that's new to you.
Mark Farhall started Hackney Flea Market Ltd as a pop-up event over ten years ago, with the aim of offering vintage marketeers an affordable space to sell their wares and promote their business, in the busy heart of Stoke Newington’s Church St.
The Royal Docks event is an important one for Mark, he says, "This event holds a special significance for me, as my family has a deep-rooted history in the docks dating back to before the 1700s. My great-grandparents and generations before them worked in the docks, so bringing the market here feels like a meaningful way to reconnect with that past while contributing to its ongoing story".
Since then, these pop ups have grown to include Peckham Salvage Yard, The Big London Flea, Walthamstow Flea Market, The Giant London Flea Market, and Drumsheds Flea, attracting the most eclectic flea vintage traders from around the country, building a reputation as the go-to place to find an amazing mix of salvaged, one-of-a–kind objects, and personal treasures.
This event holds a special significance for me, as my great-grandparents and generations before them worked in the docks. Bringing the market here feels like a meaningful way to reconnect with that past while contributing to its ongoing story.

Their markets showcase an eclectic array of items, including furniture, lighting fixtures, intriguing objects, and the occasional unexpected treasure. These events are busy, lively, young, diverse, fun, and dog-friendly with each market attracting not only the local community, but also a significant number of tourists, showcasing the city’s vibrant flamboyance, and inclusivity.
