Funding opportunity: Bring your creative activities to the Royal Docks Market this December!

We are looking for accessible, fun and creative activities to help attract audiences to the Royal Docks Market throughout weekends in December 2024. If you are a local creative, cultural organisation or artist making work that appeals to diverse local communities, we want to hear from you.

Examples include:

  • music performances
  • arts and crafts workshops
  • short outdoor family performances
  • dance or circus skills workshops
  • games and play activities

Activities must:

  • take place within the Royal Docks Market footprint, primarily on the Corniche (see plan included in Location and Access below)
  • be delivered by, or with, Newham/local-based creative organisations and artists
  • either be a drop-in activity, or performances and workshops with several sessions per day
  • be free to audiences / participants
  • be accessible, relevant and appealing to diverse communities
  • be produced and managed by the selected organisation (supported and overseen by RDT and the market managers)
  • provide appropriate method statements, risk assessments and other health and safety measures

Activities programmed should be accessible, fun and appeal to a wide range of local audiences in terms of:

  • a wide range of backgrounds
  • different age groups - young people, older people, intergenerational
  • family audiences
  • culturally diverse communities around the Royal Docks
  • heritage focussed audiences
  • arts and culture focussed audiences

About Royal Docks Market:
This new market is a collaboration between RoDMA, the Royal Docks, One Newham, Heroica and Good Hotel and launched as a pilot event in October 2024. This vibrant community market includes street food, arts and crafts stalls and local businesses and will run every weekend in December (starting Saturday 7 December 2024)

Support from the Royal Docks Team:
The Royal Docks team will promote the market and its activities through newsletters, social media and our website. Any promotional material should be credited with 'supported by the Royal Docks'.
The Royal Docks team can support selected operators to produce risk assessments and other documentation as required.

Dates:
Activities should take place within the dates of Royal Docks Christmas Food and Craft Market, on one or more of the following dates in December 2024:
Saturday 7, Sunday 8
Saturday 14, Sunday 15
Saturday 21, Sunday 22
The market times are 10am – 6pm, so we suggest your activity takes place sometime between 11am and 5pm.

Budget:
We are looking for activity with budgets of up to £750 per day of activity. If your budget is more than £750, please contact us to discuss.

There is very limited parking near the site; vehicle access for drop offs can be arranged. We recommend travel by public transport where possible. The site is 1 minute from IFS Cloud Cable Car, 3 mins walk from Royal Victoria DLR, 10 mins walk from West Silvertown DLR and Custom House DLR and Elizabeth Line.
