Royal Docks Originals unveils new mural by Graphic Rewilding

Have you seen the new mural by Royal Victoria DLR station? Blue Sunset, by creative duo Graphic Rewilding is a new public artwork adorning Projekt’s The Pump House.

The piece has been developed with local community members, incorporating favourite and meaningful flowers into the glorious final design.

Graphic Rewilding’s, Blue Sunset mural is an explosion of colour, welcoming visitors to the Royal Docks in spectacular style. The artwork forms part of a series for Royal Docks Originals 2025 - our brand new biennial cultural festival, which celebrates the local area’s heritage, community and future.

Over 50 inspiring proposals were put forward in an ‘open call’ process to select the artists to make The Pump House mural. Selected for the final commission, Graphic Rewilding was amongst the four shortlisted artists, who were awarded an honorarium to develop their proposals for the project, the other shortlisted artists included Will Redgrove, Joy Yamusangie and Matt Dosa.

Described as "an ode to the energy, diversity and stories of the area", the piece was commissioned by Hive Curates on behalf of the Royal Docks Team. They go on to say,

"Each flower represents its own historical and cultural meaning; from the bright tulips that symbolise renewal and rebirth, to the proud sunflowers that radiate positivity and strength. But these blooms were also chosen because of the personal significance they hold with local residents. By gathering suggestions, stories and memories from the community, Graphic Rewilding has built a mural that reflects both shared and subjective connections to the natural world."
