Learn new skills

There are plenty of ways to build new skills locally:

  • Try a free art class with Art in the Docks.
  • 9–18 year olds can build water confidence with the Royal Docks Sea Cadets.
  • UEL offers a range of courses designed to allow you to combine work with studying, enabling you to still earn while you earn.
  • Have a go at pottery wheel throwing at BonBon Pottery in Royal Wharf.
  • Our Newham Learning & Skills also offers flexible day, evening, and weekend courses at local centres across Newham, with most courses free or discounted. Subjects include English and maths, ESOL, digital and IT skills, creative courses, and employment support.

Volunteer locally

Volunteering is another great way to meet people and support your community. Opportunities in Royal Docks include help at West Silvertown Foundation Community Pantry, run activities at Beckton Globe Library or maybe volunteer at Beckton Dock Parkrun.
