£50,000 Lyle’s Local Fund launched to support safe, prosperous and healthy communities

Tate & Lyle Sugars has announced the launch of the Lyle’s Local Fund 2025. Running since 2017, the Fund has awarded over £250,000 to 107 projects that support safe, prosperous and healthy communities in Newham.

Grants of up to £5,000 are available and will be paid before the end of 2025. Applications are open from 8th October 2024. Local social enterprises, schools, charities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations are all eligible to apply.

Tate & Lyle Sugars, which has been producing sugar and syrup in Newham for over 145 years, has a long history of supporting the local community of Newham. The Lyle’s Local Fund complements the company’s existing community engagement programme of support for local charities, schools and other community organisations, volunteering and in-kind support.

The launch of this year’s Lyle’s Local Fund with £50,000 available for grassroots projects is fantastic news for Newham. It reflects the continued commitment of Tate & Lyle Sugars, one of our borough’s longest-standing employers, to supporting our diverse communities.

Rokhsana Fiaz, Mayor of Newham

Chris Abell, Director of Property, Community & Stakeholder Relations, Tate & Lyle Sugars said, “We take pride in working together with local communities to make our part of East London a better place. The Lyle’s Local Fund exists to support the very special organisations, projects and people who work hard to make our borough a better place to live and work. We especially want to encourage applications from small organisations or groups of citizens who have good projects that might struggle to get funding elsewhere.”

Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz OBE said “The launch of this year’s Lyle’s Local Fund with £50,000 available for grassroots projects is fantastic news for Newham. It reflects the continued commitment of Tate & Lyle Sugars, one of our borough’s longest-standing employers, to supporting our diverse communities. I encourage all local groups and organisations to apply and play their part in helping to build a fairer and more vibrant Newham.”
