UEL The Trillium Pavilion

UEL The Trillium Pavilion

The ‘Trillium pavilion’ explores novel ways to design collaboratively using human designers and Artificial Intelligence in the sense it reimagines future design methodologies. The result is a canopy supported by a tripod and a geometry that complements the design principle.

All elements are digitally manufactured on campus and resulting from multidisciplinary work between architects, engineers, AI and digital manufacturing technicians, a perfect example of reimagining design in the future.

The trillium pavilion is an architectural project lead by a team of UEL academics, students and structural engineering consultants showcasing an example of co-design between designers and Artificial Intelligence. The experiment is developed, fabricated and erected at UEL using the digital fabrication labs dFuel. In this architectural experiment, the team of students and staff continuously leveraged the structural design principles commonly applied in housing units, extending their application to creating pavilions constructed primarily from timber. The primary objective was to streamline the manufacturing and assembly processes, ensuring they were straightforward and efficient. By repurposing housing unit structural concepts for pavilion construction, we aimed to explore innovative ways to make pavilion design and assembly more accessible and sustainable, ultimately contributing to the evolution of modular and eco-friendly architectural solutions.

Perfect for students, architects and anyone interested in sustainable design and materials!
