Straight from the Horse’s Mouth – Ruminations on Newham City Farm

“Straight from the Horse’s Mouth – Ruminations on Newham City Farm” is an exhibition which aims to document highlights, snapshots and memories gathered from research and contributors with a connection to Newham City Farm and Plashet Zoo.

The exhibition will include:

  • Oral histories from employees, volunteers, educators, visitors
  • Written memories
  • Media coverage and witness accounts of the opening by Princess Anne in July 1977
  • Media coverage and witness accounts of a 25th anniversary visit by Princess Anne in July 2002
  • Competition rosettes
  • Horseshoes
  • Letters from and interviews with celebrities
  • Photos from people connected to the farm including of popular seasonal events and familiar animals
  • Promotional videos
  • Props, programmes and leaflets from events
  • Media coverage of the campaign to save the farm between 2021 and 2024
  • Opportunity for visitors to provide written or illustrated memories of Newham City Farm
