Royal Docks Summer Splash 2024

From 27th July until 18th August, why not join us At the Docks and immerse yourself in a new side of the city. Expect deck chairs, a giant sand pit, food and drink, as well as plenty of entertainment and iconic city views. And did we mention the lido!? Ideal for families, friends and all ages, Royal Docks Summer Splash is the perfect place to cool off this summer with enclosed swimming in the lido complete with a shallow end for children. As well as open water swimming there's a raft of other water-based activities for the more adventurous.

Royal Docks Summer Splash is open to all ages. Eight years and under need to be accompanied by an adult in the water. No booking is required and it's free! Tuesdays to Saturdays, expect a packed programme of family activities.

The fun includes performances, arts and crafts, storytelling and more. On Thursdays from 5pm to 9pm, adults can unwind with a drink from the bar and enjoy evening entertainment with live DJs from Disco Shed.

Why not make a day of it? There's so much to see, do, and explore in the Royal Docks. Try water sports with Wakeup Docklands, Open water swimming, check out the local eateries, relax at Sweheat Sauna, and take in the stunning views from the IFS Cloud Cable Car. Dock Local Panel present Create Identity Dollie Flags - Mixed Media Art Workshops
Workshops at 11:30, 13:30 and 15:30


Get ready to dive into a creative frenzy with your little ones at this workshop! Unleash your inner Picasso as you craft unique identity flags using all sorts of artsy goodies. These vibrant flags will either join a mobile masterpiece or head home with you. By blending various cultures and personal flair, these flags will transform into a kaleidoscope of colours, symbols, and stories, celebrating the diverse community of Newham.

Or let your imagination run wild as you create a charming paper puppet, inspired by the seaside. From quirky crabs to chip-stealing seagulls, what seaside story will you want to tell?

Hive Curates present Alisa Ruzavina - Mapping the Joys of Belonging
Drop in between 11:30 and 15:00


Join artist Alisa Ruzavina to co-create a participatory textile artwork celebrating your memories, histories and favourite places at the Royal Docks. Contribute to the creation of a local map honouring sites and exchanges that cultivate a sense of belonging in this area. Come for 20 minutes or for a few hours to depict, embroider, write, paint, sew or sketch your most cherished relationships with this land, its sites, its nature and people. Adults, families, children – all welcome! No previous artistic experience is necessary.

The Disco Shed with Count Skylarkin

As co-founder of The Disco Shed he has made headlining appearances at Bestival, Latitude, Leeds, Reading and The Big Chill. Over the years The Count has also rocked The Secret Garden Party, Outlook Festival (Croatia), Common People, Standon Calling, Notting Hill Carnival and countless others. An authority on reggae music particularly, he has written for several music publications, including Knowledge and NME. From compiling TDK D90s in the early 90s to touring with The Wailers, remixing for Trojan Records and performing in front of thousands at festivals all around the world, Count Skylarkin has been making people dance for the past 25 years – specialising in new and vintage reggae, rocksteady, Jamaican ska, hot swing, jump blues, dancehall, hip hop and jungle vinyl and guaranteed good times.
