'Pearly Queens to Grime MCs' - Community Conversation and Film Premiere

Join Newham Heritage for this fantastic opportunity to meet, connect and enjoy a film that explores the rich cultural heritage of the London Borough of Newham, produced by local young creators.

So often Newham Heritage's project-work in Newham, we hear concerns about the lack of community cohesion. This film and Q+A is a chance for a diverse range of voices to come together and be heard.

The film explores the stories of different residents of the borough. After the screening a group conversation will be facilitated by mindset coach Robin Lockhart, to enable a meaningful dialogue and create space for fresh communication, connection and collaboration.

Pearly Queens to Grime MCs celebrates the impact that migration from the 1920s to the 2020s in Newham has had on the development of language on music, poetry and other arts forms and heritage.

This event will show why is Newham so ethnically diverse and why heritage is important.
