Making Space: Play and Place
Join poet and playwright Inua Ellams on his guided walk, Play and Place. For this guided walk he will be leading you on a route through the Royal Docks and guiding you through a series of site-specific literary responses to Making Space, a collection of public artworks by Jessie Brennan. We recommend going on this walk in pairs, or in a group to be able to take part in the activities. Please take note of the art materials listed on the accompanying guided map that you will need before beginning your walk.
The walk is approximately 4.4 km and will take an average of 3 hours to complete. The podcast is 23 minutes long. As the walk is longer than the length of the podcast, just press play at each of the stops on the map to hear more about this fascinating and ever evolving area of London. This audio tour was recorded live on 14 August 2021 and has subsequently been made into a self-guided podcast to be used together with the accompanying downloadable map. This walk, including the content and information is the opinion of the artist.
The Making Space Walks Programme was curated by UP Projects in response to Making Space, a multi-sited commission by London-based artist Jessie Brennan for the Royal Docks in Newham, East London. Making Space and these associated walks have been commissioned by the Royal Docks Team.
