Growing Pains by Fathima Abdullah

Join Nalini Theatre, in partnership with Culture Within Newham, for an exclusive live sharing of Growing Pains by Fathima Abdullah, followed by a series of acting games & workshops.

Growing Pains follows 17-year-old Khadija as she navigates the hilarious and often awkward transition to university. Caught between her East London roots and a new, predominantly white university campus, she finds unexpected freedoms and friendships while grappling with the profound weight of cultural expectations, faith, and the fear of letting loved ones down. This relatable comedy deeply explores her journey as she finds herself genuinely caught between two worlds.

Explore & Create
We have created a fun packed session of games, competitions and workshops drawing on themes and characters within the play. You'll have the option to explore characters or themes from the play with a chance to win a £20 JD voucher.

Who is this for?
Growing Pains is aimed at 13 to 18 year olds, who are in education, and are thinking about attending or are attending university. Maybe you're confused and not sure what path you want to take? Then this is for you. We'd encourage those who work with this group in any way and might like to share this work further to attend too. But, of course anyone and everyone is welcome to attend, even if you just love theatre! It should be an exciting and inspiring experience for everyone.
