Custom House, Our House!

A community oral history and photography project with people in Custom House, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, starting September 2024.

Custom House, Our House are looking for participants and volunteers to get involved!

Participant interviewees:

People with lived experience of regeneration in Custom House or expertise in community-led regeneration in the area will have their oral history interview and portrait recorded.

Volunteer interviewers:

Up to 12 people will receive training to record an oral history interview from a Custom House community member.

Volunteers to co-design publication, exhibition+ public programme of events.

28 September 2024 - Information Day

Attend Custom House Bookshop and commit to becoming a volunteer interviewer or participant interviewee.

We especially welcome interest from people who identify as working class, Black and Global Majority individuals, young people (aged16-30) and elders (aged 50+) based in Custom House.

Custom House , Our House! Is led by a team of artists, designers and researchers from Royal College of Art, working in collaboration with community organisers from Custom House Bookshop. Project partners are Newham Heritage Service, Newham Libraries and Rosetta Arts.
