Celebrating Bentley's of Canning Town
Step back in time to the soulful era of Bentley’s nightclub in Canning Town!
For Newham Heritage Month, Rendezvous Projects have delved deep into the venue’s rich history, interviewing DJs, dancers, and visitors who frequented the club from 1982-1987. They’ve also collected rare images and flyers, creating a comprehensive picture of this iconic soul venue.
To celebrate this incredible piece of Newham’s history, we invite you to join us for an evening of soul, rare groove, and hip hop.
From 7:30-8:30pm, Rendezvous Projects founders will host a Q&A session, where you can learn about their work and insights into the music scene of that time.
After the Q&A, from 8:30-11pm, we’ll turn up the music with a DJ lineup playing the very best of soul, rare groove, and hip hop.
So come ready to dance, socialise, and relive the magic of Bentley’s nightclub.
The event is free, and we’re launching Rendezvous Projects’ new publication about Bentley’s, giving you an exclusive first look at the research and insights gathered from this project.
There’s a pay bar available. Please note that the venue is not easily accessible by wheelchair, but we’re committed to making the event as inclusive as possible. Please let us know if you have any access needs, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Don’t miss out on this unforgettable night of soulful music, history, and community.
