Caribbean Carnival Heritage Event Day

Dynamic and fun creative workshop inspired by Caribbean carnival design for young people. This is an online design workshop, showing sewing skills used in professional clothing production, followed by an exhibition and sharing event.

Faith & Loretta will be your guides through the workshop and textile heritage event days: you will be learning from the experts! Here is a bit more about Faith & Loretta who will take you through this exciting workshop and introduction to design skills.

Faith studied at Central Saint Martins and developed her career in fashion. Founder of Caramel Rock she runs School College Fashion Week and Petra Fashion. Faith has also worked within manufacturing and fashion production and has shared her expertise at a wide range of events and conferences from Make it Global, TedX to sitting on the Dragon’s Den panel for the Peter Jones’ Foundation during entrepreneur week.

Whilst Loretta is a talented, industrious and creative individual, with extensive experience in developing designs for different product lines related to fashion. Proficient in researching current fashion trends. Adept at designing, planning, and producing quality patterns and designs. Well versed in all aspects of the fashion industry Loretta will help you achieve the best designs in your workshop.

This event is part of London Festival of Architecture June 2020 and of Newham Heritage Month

3-4pm – Live Industry talk

The activities will allow learners to observe and gain skills in different areas of the Caribbean culture and carnival heritage of costume:

● Hand and Machine sewing techniques and processes

● Garment manufacturing processes

● Hand and machine sewing techniques and processes

● Creative use of materials

● Techniques and processes

You do not require any special equipment and you will be able to ask questions as the workshop progresses.
