Architectural walking tour of English National Ballet and London City Island
London City Island has been transformed in recent years from a disused industrial site into a thriving, fine-grained, arts inspired riverside community. Key to the development is the balance between residential and the complex mix of retail and workspaces that has brought a range of independent makers and artists to the Island.
The Island is also the new HQ for English National Ballet (ENB) which provides a counterpoint to the brick buildings around the edges of the Island. The HQ is a transformational project for ENB who have relocated to this purpose built ‘dance factory’ which amalgamates previously disparate campuses into a multi-faceted building with full size rehearsal and production studios, costume atelier, sports therapy studios and dedicated engagement and event spaces.
Join Glenn Howells Architects, English National Ballet and EcoWorld Ballymore as we enjoy an architect led walking tour of the Island and enjoy a rare behind the scenes tour of the award-winning home of ENB.
Part of London Festival of Architecture 2022.
