Our role as a global gateway continues

The Royal Docks' unrivalled connectivity and diverse communities provide an excellent opportunity for London to strengthen its international partnerships and reputation as a global city. The area has been a centre of world trade since the 1850s, and our global links endure today. From the networks of communities linked to Europe, Africa, and Asia, to its globally recognised businesses, the Royal Docks is a home to cultures and businesses with connections across the world.

London City Airport — recently voted the world’s best small airport — is expanding its footprint and its direct flight network. ExCeL competes on an international level to host some of the world’s best conferences and exhibitions. Royal Albert Dock’s investment comes from Chinese developer ABP and is set to become a critically important hub for global investment and tech-centred businesses.

All offer unmatched connections to global markets and underpin the Royal Docks' future as a critical international gateway for London.

The joint delivery team for the Royal Docks is also exploring partnerships with other global business centres, including the innovative district and old docks of Shanghai, Yangpu.

The Royal Docks will continue to attract people and businesses from across the world. That is why millions of pounds is being invested in infrastructure to ensure that the area can accommodate growth.
