The Royal Docks at the heart of London’s growth

The Royal Docks is recognised as a catalyst for London’s future growth, featuring prominently in both the London Growth plan and Opportunity London’s £22bn investment prospectus, which the Mayor of London launched at MIPIM earlier this month, seeking investment into the capital.

Earlier this month the Mayor of London released the London Growth Plan, a strategic document which sets the framework for the capital’s sustainable and equitable economic development over the next 10 years. Developed jointly by City Hall and London Councils, in collaboration with industry leaders, trade unions and communities, it focuses on housing, infrastructure and economic resilience.

This plan is framed around six major shifts that will drive London's transformation over the next decade. It emphasises how the capital’s next phase of growth will be driven by large-scale residential, commercial, and industrial developments beyond the city centre, with significant opportunities in the Royal Docks.

The Royal Docks is also identified as a growing international visitor destination, characterised by its unique waterfront and ambitions to become a cultural engine for London.

The Royal Docks’ significance as a hub of growth and innovation was reaffirmed at MIPIM 2025 where the Mayor of London launched the new Opportunity London Prospectus, unveiling £22bn live investment opportunities, including 3 major development sites in the Royal Docks - Royal Albert Dock, Millennium Mills and the Royal Albert Dock (Phase 1) Education Campus. These sites will play a crucial role in delivering thousands of new homes and jobs and contribute to London’s goal of adding over billions to its economy.

With global investors, developers and industry professionals gathered at MIPIM – one of the world’s leading real estate events - it was a pivotal moment to showcase these investment opportunities and the Royal Docks role as a key driver in London’s future.
