Meet the Dockers: Victoria Bryant

Victoria Bryant is the inspiring owner of Sculpt and Sweat Studio (SASS), located in Royal Victoria Dock. The vibrant female-only fitness studio with a unisex area, offers unique feel-good classes, personal training, and is complete with a dedicated physiotherapy clinic. In this Meet the Dockers interview, we spoke with Victoria about her journey into the fitness industry, what makes SASS so popular, and her commitment to empowering women to achieve their goals.

I discovered the life-changing benefits of health and fitness during my personal health journey. For years I struggled with allergies and inflammation, I was fatigued and always getting ill. So, I decided to try to heal myself and through exercise, nutrition and mindfulness. I succeeded and instantly embraced living a healthy lifestyle. It was then I decided to change my new passion into a career. I studied nutrition and personal training and soon began seeing clients.

In 2020 during Covid, I opened a small personal training studio named BodyByVicky at Expressway in Royal Victoria Dock. The business took off rapidly. As soon as Covid restrictions lifted I was quickly fully booked, which made it clear that I needed to expand.

My husband Joshua Bryant is a physiotherapist, and we decided to join forces and open a new studio renamed, Sculpt and Sweat Studio at a larger location at 5 Tidal Basin Road, Royal Victoria Dock.

I came up with the idea of SASS to offer women a safe space to train and improve health in a fun way and be part of an empowering community.

Josh runs Physio Athletic which offers physio assessments, rehab, massage, acupuncture, body MOTs and assessments and more. Our clients can all use the unisex gym area, but the SASS fitness studio is female only. We spent a lot of time designing a cool space that meets all clients needs. We even have a smoothie bar!

Our businesses work well together. When a client books a physio appointment, they often end up joining SASS classes after experiencing the space and the sense of community. Also, if a SASS client has an injury, we have an in-house physiotherapist to help recovery.

I came up with the idea of SASS to offer women a safe space to train and improve health in a fun way and be part of an empowering community. The concept combines classes to strengthen, shape, sculpt and work up a sweat.

We offer sessions and classes for all abilities, from complete beginners to those further along their fitness journey seeking a challenge. The female-only classes including Sweat it Out, Step it Up, Bootycamp, Lift Club, Sculpt Sweat Strength, Barre x Pilates, semi-private personal training sessions and more. Step it up is a high energy, faced paced American style step class to music which will leave you feeling amazing.

For the lower body, Bootycamp is a killer workout designed to sculpt. Lift Club is another popular class. The weights class helps to tone legs, glutes and core and sculpt arms. For a full body workout, Sculpt Sweat Strength incorporates Pilates, weights and some cardio for the ultimate body pump.

All our classes are unique to SASS; you won’t find them at other gyms. First classes are offered at half price to allow clients to try them out. Students receive a 20% discount off membership as well as off peak open gym sessions. Members also receive a complimentary nutrition plan as nutrition is just as important as fitness. There are also pay as you go options. Men are welcome to use the unisex gym area too.

We help our clients achieve their goals while having a great time, feeling that fitness is fun. Throughout the year we offer exciting experiences such as Glow in the Dark DJ workouts, the SASS Awards, and summer parties. SASS is unique; you’ll never experience another studio quite like ours. It has a community feel like no other, making your fitness journey elevated and fun.

Sculpt and Sweat Studio (SASS)

In February we held fun women-only classes for Galentine’s Day with a live DJ playing the ultimate party anthems. The session combined a Lift Club weights workout and high intensity training with partying on the gym floor for a hit of cardio.

SASS brings women together from all walks of life and helps them make friends in the community, empowering them to get healthier, fitter and stronger together, something you don’t get when you train alone. We are proud to have helped hundreds of women achieve fitness transformations both physically and mentally. Their amazing journeys are shared on our Transformation web page to inspire others.

As well as being the owner, I teach classes and personal train some of my long-term clients. I also manage the creative marketing which is another a passion of mine. I love that my role combines time on the gym floor with developing marketing strategies and creative ideas. We also organise fitness retreats around the world which is so fun to organise. The SASS Croatia Fitness Retreat coming soon which is going to be incredible.

We also have exciting plans for a brand-new online platform as well as an outside area for working out in the spring and summer months. I love Royal Docks, especially in summer. It has such a good vibe. It’s lovely to walk around the docks or take a stroll around Thames Barrier Park. There is always some nice to sit, relax, grab a coffee and enjoy the views. Josh and I have lived in the Royal Docks for five years and the area has changed rapidly during that time. There is lots of growth happening and more young professionals are moving to here. It’s an exciting time to be here and an exciting time for SASS.
