London Design & Engineering submit a planning application for the development of a new building at their campus in Royal Albert Dock.
The London Design & Engineering (LDE) UTC have submitted a planning application for the development of a new building at their campus in Royal Albert Dock.
Specialising in engineering, construction, design, aviation, and digital subjects, LDE offers a unique employer-led curriculum that equips local students, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, with the essential employability and practical life skills sought by employers.
The new building is designed to support the delivery of T-Levels, which are two-year qualifications for 16-19 years olds designed in collaboration with employers. The facility will offer a state-of-the-art learning environment and resources, ensuring students can excel in their chosen fields and prepare them for skilled jobs or progression to STEM qualifications in higher education.
The building will serve as a local hub for T-Levels and STEM learning, enhancing the local educational offer and providing an increased variety of options for Newham students. Additionally, the facilities will be available for community use and adult STEM education, fostering a sense of ownership and pride among residents.
The focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is critical for the future workforce and the new building will serve as a local hub encouraging young people to pursue careers in these critical and high-value fields. This will not only benefit the students but also address the growing need for STEM professionals, supporting innovation and technological advancement.
