Become a Local Champion

As part of the regeneration of North Woolwich, Newham Council is inviting local residents to help shape a shared vision for the area by identifying opportunities for physical improvements and community-focused activities.

Newham is looking for four North Woolwich residents to become Local Champions - friendly faces who want to:

  • Talk with local residents
  • Share ideas with the project team
  • Help test small projects that make a difference

No previous experience is required as training and support will be provided.

What you'll do:

As a Local Champion, you’ll help:

  • Spread the word!
  • Lend a hand at community events
  • Come up with creative ideas for local spaces (new & existing)
  • Plan and cost the ideas

Details:

  • £14.80 an hour
  • Up to 40 hours of paid work
  • Between November 2025 - March 2026
  • Learn new skills in community engagement, project planning, and teamwork
  • Receive support and training with workshops, regular catch-ups, and all the materials you need to champion your neighbourhood.

The team are looking for lived experience, not shiny CVs! If you want to help develop a vision for your neighbourhood, they would love to hear from you.
